Lupita Nyong'o
Actress and filmmaker Lupita Nyong’o is the winner of the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, the Essence Magazine Best Breakthrough Performance Award and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in 12 YEARS A SLAVE (2013).
A graduate of Yale School of Drama and Hampshire College, Lupita has worked on the production teams of critically acclaimed films including THE CONSTANT GARDENER (2005) directed by Fernando Mereilles and THE NAMESAKE (2006) directed by Mira Nair. Lupita's film productions include the award-winning films DECOLONIZING THE MIND (2005) (Winner of Best of Hampshire College at the Five College Film Festival, 2007) and IN MY GENES, (Winner of Best Documentary and Best Film of 2008 at the Five College Film Festival, 2008). IN MY GENES, Lupita's first non-fictional work, sheds light on the problem of stigma and celebrate human difference. Lupita was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya.
