Maria Christina Villasenor
Maria-Christina Villaseñor is a media maker, writer, and curator. Her works "The Momentary Enemy" and "El Puente" have been screened nationally and internationally at venues including the Brooklyn Museum, the Bangkok Experimental Film Festival, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and the Williamsburg Film Festival. From 1996 to 2007, she curated film and media arts exhibitions for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York as well as the Guggenheim Museums in Berlin and Bilbao. Among her Guggenheim curatorial projects are the exhibitions William Kentridge: Black Box/Chambre Noire, In the Air: Projections of Mexico, and Bill Viola: Temporality and Transcendence. She has also guest-curated media programs for numerous organizations such as Creative Time and Exit Art, and organized and toured film programs internationally to venues including the Havana International Film Festival, the Museo de Bellas Artes Buenos Aires, and the Prague Febio Fest. She writes on film, video and photography for a number of publications, and is the author and editor of a recent William Kentridge catalogue and co-author/editor of the catalogues Conversations between Shadows and Light: Italian Cinematography, and Tom Sachs: Nutsy's. Among the panels and juries she has served on are the Rockefeller Program for Media Artists fellowships panel, the National Endowment for the Humanities documentary panel, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Student Academy Awards jury.
