Mother of the River

This powerful drama of a young girl's slave experience in the antebellum South is based on the power of the folk tale and the riddle. Dofimae is an independent spirit despite her condition of slavery. She wanders into the woods and meets a mysterious woman who will give her name only as Mother of the River. Though dangerous for them both, their friendship blossoms and the two are able to use a bit of magic to help each other.
