Open Hand Reel started in 2004 making commercial videos for non-profit and educational institutions to further the causes of these institutions. While we continue making videos for clients, we are also producing full-length documentaries on issues of social justice. All of Open Hand Reel's projects create real-world results that benefit the subjects of each video or documentary and effectively break the barrier between subject and audience. Our goal is to get audiences moved so they will actively participate in the issues set forth, and in so doing, change their own lives. We strive to give voice to the people through independent media, because it is the everyday heroes in our world that often provide the most important lessons in life.

TWN acknowledges that in New York we are on the unceded territory of the Lenni Lenape, Canarsie, Shinecock, and Munsee peoples and challenges the harm that continues to be inflicted upon Indigenous and People of Color communities here and abroad, which is why we all need to be part of the struggle for rights, equality and justice.
